Benidorm is Spain's most popular resort. Situated on the Costa Blanca 40 miles north of Alicante, Benidorm has grown out of all recognition from its origins as a small fishing village. The town has expanded rapidly and it now resembles a mini Manhatten with its towering apartment blocks and neon signs. One of the main reasons people return year after year are Benidorm's fantastic beaches, the Levante, literally "sunrise" and the Poniente, "sunset". These beaches are amongst the finest in Europe. They are immaculately maintained day and night by an army of cleaners. Both beaches are approx 2 miles long and are seperated by a rocky headland which is home to the old town.
Benidorm has plenty to offer the holidaymaker, apart from the beaches. There are two major theme parks which opened in the last couple of years, Terra Mitica which has become one of the Costa Blanca's main tourist attractions and Terra Natura, an animal and water park. The ever popular Aqualandia water park is a great place to cool off on a hot day and if you like golf there are some fantastic new courses around the Terra Mittica area. You'll never be short of something to do in Benidorm, there are go karting tracks, safari outings, a ski school at the end of the Levante promenade, paragliding, quad biking, indoor and outdoor markets, numerous bars, restaurants, shops, nightclubs, pubs discos and music venues. Many of the resort's hotels have a varierty of evening entertainment which is open to anybody. One of the most popular venues is Benidorm Palace, a fantastic value for money cabaret club with top class acts and an excellent meal. There is so much to see and do in Benidorm, it would be impossible to try and list everything on this page.
