Cala Ratjada is on the northeast tip of Majorca. What was a fishing port is now primarily a holiday resort.  Many day trippers visit Cala Ratjada on one of the Island's boat trips and stay long enough for a drink and a wander around the town before heading back. There is a long sea wall which forms part of the harbour, the young locals use it as a launch pad to jump into the sea. Cala Ratjada is a favourite destination for German tourists, who seem to have discovered it before tourists from the UK.  It is only within the past 15 years that Cala Ratjada has become a mainstream holiday resort.  Cala Ratjada is the closest resort on Majorca to the island of Menorca and on clear days the Menorcan capital Ciutadella can be seen.  At the time of writing, there is  a daily hydrofoil service between Cala Ratjada to Ciutadella
