The Canary Islands

The Canaries are a Spanish owned group of volcanic islands situated in the Atlantic ocean off the west coast of Africa.  They have an all year round mild climate and are very popular with tourists from all over Europe.  The most visited of the islands is Gran Canaria, the largest  island is Tenerife and the smallest is El Hierro.  Each island has its own climatic variations and scenery.  The Canary Island economy is based around tourism and agriculture.
