The Costa Calida or " Warm Coast "  stretches approx 250 kms from El Mojon in the north to Aguilas in the south and is home to one of Spain's largest inland lagoons the Mar Menor.  The area has many golf resorts including the famous La Manga club resort, named after    the strip of land seperating the lagoon from the sea. The Mar Menor had one of Spain's earliest resorts "Lo Pagan" Famous for its mud baths, Lo Pagan attracted visitors from far and wide because the mud was said to have healing qualities.  The city of Cartagena on the Costa Calida dates back to pre Roman times and has a number of well preserved Roman remains.    The coastal town of Mazarron is a working fishing port as well as being a popular resort.
