From humble beginnings, Majorca has transformed itself into what is probably the best holiday destination in the Mediterranean. It has somehow managed to achieve this without blighting the landscape with hundreds of ugly high rise apartment blocks which is what has happened in many parts of the Spanish mainland. Majorca has a tough policy on development and the height of new constructions. As a result of the tourist boom over the past thirty years, many resorts have developed from what were originally small fishing villages which had little significance. Many of these have been able to develop their tourism side by side with traditional pursuits. There are a lot of small resorts in Majorca and we hope to eventually list them all. In the meantime, we have devoted pages to most of the popular towns and resorts.
