Walking The Pilgrims Routes

We have devoted a number of  pages to pilgrim walking holidays.  Have a look at the available options by using the drop down box above.

Fancy a challenge this year?  If you're a walker,  the ultimate walking challenge is to follow in the footsteps of the medieval pilgrims on one of the many routes which meander across Spain to the holy city of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.  The city of Santiago de Compostela is claimed to be the final resting place of the apostle James and is the third most holy city in Cristendom after Jerusalem and Rome. There are a variety of routes to walk and a number of companies specialising in walks along these ancient paths.  One of the most popular is the Camino Frances which runs from the French border but there are many others including the camino Portugues and the camino Ingles.

There have been a number of books written about the Camino Frances and other routes to Santiago de Compostela.  Some of these books are autobiographical and others offer a fascinating insight into the history of St James and his relationship with Spain.  We have chosen a variety of what we consider to be the best books on the subject from Amazon.
