Torremolinos

Once a small fishing village, Torremolinos has been transformed into the Costa del Sol's nightlife capital.  Not for the fainthearted, in the height of the season, Torremolinos comes alive, especially in the area of La Nogalera with discos nightclubs bars and restaurants all vying with each other to attract customers  Torremolinos could best be described as lively and not the sort of resort for a tranquil holiday although it is popular with young and old alike.  There are miles of sandy beaches, apartment blocks and hotels, all within eight kilometers of Malaga airport.  Torremolinos has gained a reputation as a party resort but do a bit of exploring and there are still typically  Spanish areas with narrow streets and tapas bars.  Torremolinos is popular with holidaymakers from all over Europe.  Most of the bar and restaurant staff can speak English. Rent a car for a day and within a few hours, you can be far away from the hustle and bustle of the resort, exploring the region's historic past.  Back from the promenade, is the main shopping area, the Calle San Miguel.  Self catering  apartments are very popular and can be rented for as little as £200 per week providing you don't choose the height of the season.  Renting an apartment arranging your own flight and airport transfer have been made extremely easy with the internet boom.  Self catering holidays are  gradually replacing the package tours as a cheaper alternative with. the budget airlines having slashed the cost of getting to the area.  Benelmadena and Torremolinos are now joined by the long promenade the Paseo Maritimo.  This would make a pleasant evening stroll if you have an hour or so to spare. Aqualand, just ten minutes from the centre of Torremolinos will provide hours of entertainment for the whole family.  Provision is made for younger children in the mini park and for the more adventurous, you can try out the rapids, the black hole and the boomerang.  Well worth a day out.
