Start with a public waterfront route
Denia has both a commercial port and a marina, so begin by locating a clearly public route rather than assuming every quay is available for a stroll. Choose the part that connects conveniently from your apartment. Follow signs and respect boundaries around operational areas.
Use the port setting to orientate yourself before heading into town. If a boat trip interests you, check the operator's current departure point and arrangements separately. Seeing vessels at the waterfront is not enough to establish where a particular service boards or whether it operates that day.
Choose one inland anchor
The town's castle and Marques de Campo are among the landmarks in official tourism information. Pick one area to give the walk direction rather than trying to combine every sight. If entering the castle is the plan, verify its current access and allow for the route rather than treating it as a quick flat detour.
A simple walk through central streets can be enough on a first day. Notice how to return towards the port and where useful shops sit along the route. These practical observations make later outings easier without requiring a rigid timetable.
Keep market-style browsing separate from buying
Before purchasing food, decide whether you are heading home soon. Ingredients that need refrigeration should not be carried through a long port walk. Browse first if necessary, then buy on the final leg and take the food directly back to the apartment.
Match quantities to the kitchen and the remaining stay. If cooking seafood or another ingredient requiring particular preparation, check that you have suitable utensils and know what the trader is supplying. A simpler meal may be the better option when you want more time outside and less time cleaning an unfamiliar kitchen.
Stop at a comfortable point
The day's route need not extend onto Denia's longer coastline. Town, port and a meal can already form a varied outing. Return while the group is comfortable, save any interesting route for another day and use the apartment for a proper break. This keeps the day focused without confusing a town walk with a much longer beach excursion.
