Locate the cooling, not just the symbol

A listing may describe the apartment as air-conditioned when the only unit is in the living room. That can matter if bedroom doors need to stay closed or someone will be sleeping on a sofa bed. Ask which rooms have their own units and whether the description applies to the whole apartment.

Use the floor plan to understand the arrangement. A long corridor and several separate rooms are different from a small open studio. Avoid assuming that one visible unit will produce the same conditions everywhere.

Ask about controls and conditions

Confirm whether guests can control the system, whether operation depends on a key card and whether there are stated usage limits or additional charges. These are questions about the specific accommodation, not features you can infer from its location or nightly price.

If photographs show ceiling fans or portable appliances, ask what is actually supplied for your dates. A fan and an air-conditioning unit are different pieces of equipment. The host's written description should make the distinction clear.

Consider the night-time arrangement

For a light sleeper, the position of a unit and any operational noise may matter as much as its presence. Ask for the model or a recent room photograph if a specific feature is important, but do not expect a photograph to establish sound levels.

On arrival, check the operating instructions and report a problem promptly through the agreed contact route. Do not dismantle equipment or improvise settings beyond the instructions. A short, precise enquiry before booking is usually more useful than a broad question about whether the apartment is comfortable in summer.

Compare two plausible layouts

Imagine one apartment with a unit in each bedroom and another with a single unit above the entrance to the lounge. If two guests need separate sleeping rooms, those are materially different offers even if both listings use the same amenity label. Draw the expected sleeping arrangement beside the locations of the units before comparing the price. This simple exercise can reveal a question that a long list of general facilities misses.
