Marbella: checking the distance between old town and beach

Marbella covers more than one holiday setting; establish the actual distance to the old town before booking a beach address.

Separate the municipality from the centre

Marbella's official tourism description includes its old town, beaches and Puerto Banus, along with a substantial stretch of coastline. These are not a single compact accommodation zone. A property marketed as a Marbella apartment may be well suited to the coast while being inconvenient for repeated visits to the historic centre.

Use Plaza de los Naranjos as one old-town reference point and your intended beach access as another. Measure the walking or transport routes from the actual entrance. Do not let a photograph of a nearby landmark stand in for evidence that the property is next to it.

Decide what you want after dinner

If evening walks through the old town are a priority, check the route home at the time you expect to use it. A daytime beach transfer and a late return are different arrangements. Check current services and budget for an alternative if the public option does not fit the evening.

For groups, agree whether everyone expects to return together. A remote apartment can feel restrictive when some people want an early night and others want to stay out. Two sets of keys may help, but they do not solve the absence of a practical route.

Examine beachfront claims

Ask whether beachfront means direct public access, a road crossing or a route through a development. Clarify whether any gate has restricted hours or requires a key. A sea-facing balcony is not proof that the shortest visible path is available to guests.

Check whether bedrooms share the view or face somewhere else. Ask about cooling in each sleeping room and whether closing the windows affects comfort. If the apartment has a pool, confirm the arrangements for your dates instead of treating a photograph as an all-season promise.

Compare the total stay

Add likely transport costs to the price difference between properties. Include ordinary shopping journeys as well as sightseeing. A larger coastal apartment can still be the right choice, but its extra space should be weighed against the movements it requires. Choose a central apartment when the old town is your daily focus; choose the coast deliberately when that is where you want to spend most of the holiday.
