Name the beach before the apartment
Nerja's Balcon de Europa is a viewpoint above the coast, positioned between beaches rather than on a continuous flat strip of sand. That distinction matters when comparing accommodation. A central address with a sea view and an apartment beside a particular beach can create very different daily routines.
Identify the beach you expect to visit most often and find its public access point. Then compare the complete route from each candidate property. An apartment close to the viewpoint is not automatically the best option for carrying beach equipment several times a day.
Count climbs and returns
Ask the host about changes of level between the building and your chosen beach. Check both directions; going down before a swim is only half the trip. If using a pushchair or travelling with someone who avoids steps, request an actual alternative route and assess its length rather than accepting a general assurance.
Consider how often you need to return for lunch, rest or forgotten equipment. A beach-focused address can be useful for frequent returns, while a central base may better support evenings around the town. There is little value in a compromise location whose route is awkward for both parts of the holiday.
Confirm the practical space
Beach holidays create a daily cycle of towels, showers and drying. Ask whether the apartment has a rack, where it may be used and whether the washing machine is private. Clarify how many towels are included, particularly if you do not want to pack additional sets.
Inspect the sleeping layout as carefully as the terrace. Separate bedrooms, room-specific cooling and a bathroom accessible without crossing a sleeping area can make a bigger difference than a wider outlook. A small terrace may be pleasant for coffee without being suitable for every meal.
Keep arrival uncomplicated
Obtain the real check-in address and a luggage drop-off description. If the building lies in a pedestrian area, learn how far you must carry bags before arriving. Nerja can support a town-and-beach stay, but the best base is the one whose ordinary movements suit your group, leaving the viewpoint and other beaches as optional outings rather than daily logistical challenges.
