Begin with the viewpoint
The Balcon de Europa projects above Nerja's coast between beaches and is a useful place to understand the town's setting. Approach it from the route that suits your apartment and allow time to look along the shoreline. It can be the main purpose of a short outing rather than the first item on a long sightseeing list.
Agree where the group will meet before spreading out for photographs. Keep the walkway clear and remain within the public viewing areas. The view itself provides interest without needing to search for a more precarious angle.
Explore a little of the town
The streets around the viewpoint and El Salvador church offer a natural next part of the walk. Choose a modest loop and keep the return route in mind. If you want to enter a building, check its current visitor arrangements rather than assuming an open doorway establishes public access.
Notice a useful shop or a place you might return to for a meal, but resist carrying groceries during the whole outing. Save locations first and shop later when you are ready to head directly back to the apartment.
Decide separately about going down to the beach
Seeing a beach from above is not the same as assessing its access. Before descending, check the route and the climb back, especially with a pushchair or anyone who avoids steps. If swimming was not part of the original plan, a look from the viewpoint may be sufficient for this outing.
Do not add a distant attraction merely because it appears in a brochure beside the Balcon de Europa. Trips beyond the town centre need their own transport and timing checks. Keeping this walk local leaves more time to enjoy its setting.
Finish before the bags get heavy
Buy the ingredients for a straightforward lunch or dinner on the final part of the route. Take chilled food home promptly and put it away before resting. A short Nerja outing can fit neatly around apartment life: a view, a few streets, one purposeful shop and enough energy left to decide what the rest of the day should contain.
