Make the question specific
Ask whether the host knows of planned renovation, maintenance or construction during the stay. Include communal areas, neighbouring units and work immediately outside the building. A broad question about whether the flat is quiet may produce an answer about usual conditions rather than a scheduled project. Explain if you expect to be indoors during the day, since the effect on a person working from the flat may differ from the effect on someone out until evening. Request the answer in the booking conversation.
Understand the likely impact
If work is known, ask where it will happen, what hours are currently planned and whether access or facilities will be affected. A hallway repainting project differs from structural work beside the bedroom, but either may matter to your routine. Ask whether the lift, terrace, pool or entrance will remain usable. Treat dates and schedules as information subject to change rather than a guarantee. The host may not control neighbouring works, so distinguish what they know from what they can actually promise.
Compare the information with your needs
Consider how easily you could adapt if work ran later than expected or restricted part of the building. A visitor planning daily excursions may accept a situation that would undermine a working stay or a family nap routine. Do not let a discount decide the question before evaluating the practical disruption. If an essential facility is unavailable, the lower price may not make the apartment suitable. Compare another property using the same dates and requirements rather than judging the offer in isolation.
Keep an arrival record
On arrival, note material differences from the information provided and contact the host promptly through the agreed channel. Describe the observed issue clearly, including when it occurs and which part of the stay it affects. Do not attempt to enter work areas or obtain information by interfering with contractors. This planning approach cannot establish every future source of noise, but it can uncover known projects and reduce misunderstandings. The aim is an informed booking, not an impossible promise that the neighbourhood will remain unchanged.
