Build a like-for-like quote

Use identical arrival and departure dates and the actual number of guests for every comparison. A headline nightly price may refer to different occupancy or dates. Keep the cancellation arrangement consistent too, because a flexible option and a restrictive option are not the same purchase.

Record the full amount payable to complete the stay, including compulsory charges displayed in the offer. Note any amounts that remain payable at the property and ask for clarification if the total is not clear. Local charges and provider terms can vary, so avoid filling gaps with assumptions from a previous trip.

Separate charges from temporary holds

A refundable security deposit or card hold affects available funds even when it is not ultimately a cost. Write it on a separate line with the stated release or refund process. The budget needs to accommodate that temporary requirement alongside the final price.

Optional extras belong in the comparison when you genuinely need them. Parking, a cot or an extra cleaning visit may make two otherwise similar offers different in practice. Confirm whether the quoted option includes the specific service you plan to use.

Put the arithmetic on one page

Imagine Apartment A costs €90 a night for five nights plus a compulsory €60 cleaning charge. Its stated total is €510. Apartment B costs €100 a night with that cleaning already included, giving €500. In this invented example, the lower nightly price produces the higher total before any other applicable amounts.

If A also requires a refundable €150 deposit, the initial cash or card-capacity requirement can be higher again, even though the deposit is not counted as consumed spending. Keep these concepts separate rather than adding every number into one misleading cost total.

Compare value after cost

An apartment that saves €20 but requires additional daily travel may not reduce the trip's overall spending. Conversely, paying more for an unused amenity does not necessarily improve the stay. Consider the actual journeys, cooking plans and sleeping arrangement of your group.

Save the final offer and its inclusions before booking. If the dates, guest count or payment terms change, rebuild the comparison from the revised quote. A total price is useful only when it refers to the stay you intend to take and the conditions you are willing to accept.
