Distinguish a visit from an overnight stay
Explain to the host whether someone would come for a meal, spend part of a day with you or sleep in the apartment. Those situations may be treated differently by the booking and building rules. Give the number of people and the intended dates or frequency. Do not assume an unused sofa bed means additional overnight guests are permitted. The occupancy recorded in the reservation and the host's agreed arrangements should reflect the actual stay.
Ask before making promises
Obtain permission and any conditions before inviting friends to rely on the apartment as their base. Confirm whether there is an extra charge, an access procedure or a restriction on using shared facilities. A pool or communal terrace may be available only to registered occupants. Ask about these features separately rather than treating entry to the flat as permission to use everything in the building. Keep the answer in the booking conversation, especially if it changes an earlier occupancy arrangement.
Plan the visit around the space
Check that there is enough seating and table space for the proposed meal without borrowing furniture from shared areas. Consider neighbours and the building's quiet hours when choosing the time. You remain responsible for following the agreed property rules while visitors are present. Do not distribute access codes casually or assume a visitor may return independently. If the arrangement is complicated, meeting at an appropriate venue outside the apartment may be simpler and more comfortable for everyone.
Update the host if plans change
An extra person or an overnight stay can materially alter what was originally approved. Ask again with the new details rather than stretching a previous answer to cover them. If the host declines, make another arrangement before the visitor travels. This is practical booking etiquette, not a claim about a universal Spanish rule: individual reservations and buildings differ. Clear communication protects the visitor from arriving with the wrong expectation and keeps your own longer stay consistent with what was actually agreed.
