Draw the route from each sleeping space

List the bathrooms and note how each person reaches them. An en-suite serves its bedroom conveniently, but it may offer little shared benefit if the only route passes a sleeping couple. A second toilet without a shower is also different from a second full bathroom.

Check the listing's terminology against the photographs or a floor plan. Ask which rooms contain a shower, bath, basin and toilet. A description such as two bathrooms can hide a layout that still requires everyone to queue for one shower.

Consider the busy part of the day

Think through a morning when everyone wants to leave together. Where can one person brush their teeth while another showers? Can someone use a mirror outside the bathroom? Is there a place to hang several towels without covering the only available surface?

For a group with different routines, a separate toilet can be particularly useful even when there is only one shower. For two couples seeking privacy, two bathrooms may be worth more than a larger lounge. Match the configuration to your group rather than treating the highest count as the only measure of value.

Ask about the physical arrangement

If access is important, ask about the shower threshold, doorway clearance and available space, using measurements relevant to the traveller. A walk-in shower does not by itself establish that the whole bathroom is accessible. Photographs can omit the narrowest point or the turn beside the door.

Check whether the shower is enclosed and whether the bathroom has somewhere dry for clothing and toiletries. In a compact space, these details can shape the morning routine more than decorative finishes. Ask what towels and basic supplies are provided so the group does not arrive relying on an assumed shared stock.

Agree a practical sharing plan

Before booking, allocate bedrooms and identify which bathroom each person expects to use. If a bathroom is reached through an en-suite bedroom, agree whether others will ever use it and when. This is easier to discuss at home than after someone has unpacked.

On arrival, locate the hot-water controls and follow the host's instructions. If several showers are planned close together, ask about any relevant operating guidance rather than assuming an unlimited supply. A good bathroom layout supports the group's actual routine; the listing's headline count is only the first clue.
